If you’re wondering where to go for your next ski holiday and feeling flush, here are five of the most luxurious ski chalets out there, to help you make that all important decision. Or, if you’re like us, just to see how the other half lives.
Resorts West Ski Dream Home
From: a week’s stay is offered from around £90,000.
Need your own personal heated bridge? Then this may be the ski chalet for you. This luxury ski-lodge home, valued at an ice cool $155 million, is the largest property in the “exclusive billionaires-only private ski and golf community, Yellowstone Club.” With 10 bathrooms, which should leave at least one spare for washing your oversized wallet, this is the ice cool ski holiday that won’t let you feel, well… cold.
There’s heated flooring that stretches to the driveway as well as fireplaces in all bathrooms. A gourmet kitchen with separate butlers’ pantry, a home theatre with stadium seating for 16, pool table, DJ booth, (but you have to bring your own DJ) 2 custom bar areas and Full Swing Golf simulator. Did we mention there’s also a freshwater trout aquarium?
Outside, enjoy stunning panoramic views, outdoor fireplaces, heated wrap-around decks, a heated outdoor pool plus oversized hot tub and slope-side ski-in/ski-out access via your private – and of course heated – bridge. This place is so hot, it might dissappear.
Where: Zermatt, Swiss Alps
From:£38,000 a week
A veritable home-from-home in the Swiss Alps – if your home happens to have dual managers, a personal cook, a housekeeper, and interiors designed by the renowned architect Magali de Tscharner.
Located in the exclusive Petit Village, this chalet has a full wellness area (in case that 38-grand-for-a-week’s-holiday-spend gives you a tension headache), a plunge pool, outdoor hot tub and a whirlpool spa, this is the place to chillax, glass of champagne in hand – with only the twinkling lights of your partner’s jewellery reflecting the glow of a real fire to steal your gaze. But if you’re bored with all that swanky nonsense there’s always the home theatre to see how the real people are getting on back in Albert Square.
Chalet Les Brames
Where: Meribel, French Alps
From: £21,750 per week
Nestled away in its own secluded grounds so no one can watch you gently weeping when you get the bill, this spectacular property accommodates up to 14 guests and has enormous floor-to-ceiling windows as well as a sauna, steam room, massage room, billiard room, gym and home theatre. Again, if you’re in for a real holiday treat, your reservation includes the friendly services of a pair of managers, a personal cook and a housekeeper.
Where: Courchevel France
From: Ten nights just after new year comes in at a mere €450,000 (around £290,000), while Feb half term week is a bargain at €280,000 (around £180,000).
This luxury chalet has everything; its eight bedrooms all have private bathrooms and there’s a bar, gym, library, private cinema and even a private nightclub. That’s right, you can dance in your pants like no one is watching… because literally no one is watching. And the ultimate ski accessory is available here, those all-important boot warmers. Because there’s nothing like skiing fresh tracks and melting them in your wake.
Note: This luxury chalet is not to be confused with our own Chalet Edelweiss (below) which is still pretty nice and slightly cheaper with a week’s stay starting from £349 per person, per week.
Where: The exclusive resort of Lech in Austria.
From: £21,000 a week
Blending the sophistication and comforts of a world-class hotel with the ambience and elegance of a private home, this is an immense chalet with a 23m pool and a 200 m2 master bedroom that’s bigger than the average house. What’s more – there’s a generously equipped library and guest can travel between the chalet and the main Aurelio hotel via a subterannean connection.
