The Chalet Company is here to help!

All our guests will be looked-after by the client services team of The Chalet Company and we can help to organise all the aspects of your holiday to make things as easy as possible for you. The main aspects are listed below ... but we are happy to book restaurants or massages or whatever else that may add to your comfort!

Airport Transfers

Airport Transfers

On the assumption most of you will not be taking the Lear Jet into Méribel or Courchevel Altiport and then horse-drawn sleigh on from there, you will need an airport transfer to get you to your chalet in Méribel after your bun-fight of a flight!

We would be delighted to organise this for you from one of the following airports:

  • Chambery (109kms: 1 hour 15 mins)
  • Geneva (136km: 2 hours 15 mins)
  • Lyon (178km: 2 hours)
  • Grenoble (175km: 2 hours)

How it works

Airport transfers can be booked on a private or shared basis.

Private transfers

Private transfers are charged at a set fee per shuttle bus and so only become economical if you have seven or eight passengers. The capacity is generally eight passengers and you will be dropped at the door of your chalet.

shared transfers

Shared transfers are charged on a per person basis. For shared transfers, there are two options. The most cost-effective option is to book with a company that will transport you from the airport to the closest bus-stop to your chalet. The most convenient option is to book with a company that will transport you from the airport to the front door of your chalet although you will, of course, pay a small premium for this service.

Whatever option you choose, The Chalet Company can help…

Lift Passes

Lift Passes

Direct to your chalet

Like with everything in life, buying a lift pass is no longer as simple as it should be and comes with it a number of questions and no small degree of risk! But, fear not, the helpful Chalet Company team are here to streamline the process and unravel the mysteries!

First things first, you can pre-order your pass through The Chalet Company – this is a no-brainer as the cost is the same as if you purchased it yourself and there will be no first-day queuing – your lift pass will be in the chalet on your arrival!

Three Valleys or Meribel?

Experienced skiers are advised to go for the Three Valleys pass so that they can enjoy the world’s largest ski area without restriction. Intermediate skiers are the difficult middle child – the Méribel Valley has some great skiing but it represents only 20% of the total ski area. You can always upgrade the Méribel pass to a Three Valleys pass for €36 per day. So if you plan to upgrade for more than 1 day, it is more cost effective to buy the six-day Three Valleys pass. Beginner skiers should find sufficient skiing in the Méribel Valley.

The Question of Risk

Your travel insurance policy may or may not cover you for the cost of an emergency rescue. You must check the smallprint of the policy but, if it does not, you can purchase ‘carte-neige’ insurance for €2.90 per day and this will cover the cost of getting you off the mountain and into the hospital should a serious accident occur. Clearly a money-making scheme dreamt up by an insurance company and sold to the resort of Méribel (for a commission, no doubt)… but can you afford to be without it?!

Ski Lessons

Instructors

Are you dreaming… or does the tanned, muscular red-jacketed professional gliding down the slopes appear to be floating on the wings of an angel? Of course, that is how most ski and snowboard instructors in France felt they were viewed by their doe-eyed public but, today, not all of them are so…’introspective’! They also don’t all wear red. The guys we work with are grafters; they have made a lot of sacrifices in their lives to achieve the top qualifications available to ski and snowboard instructors. They are also customer service focused and so will work tirelessly to ensure you have a fantastic time whilst in their care. And, finally, most of them are Scottish and so can boast barely a shade of a tan between them!

Childcare

Instructors

We know how important those little blighters are to us, but we all also recognise that some ‘adult’ time is a welcome must for some of us – therefore we would be happy to recommend nannies in the local area who our previous guests have used and spoken highly about. Nannies can be booked for 6 half or full days and also babysitting. As with most things, in peak weeks, they get booked up very quickly so best to book as early as possible!

Nannies
  • T4 Nannies
T4 nannies is run by mum and Director, Tess, who hand picks her nannies to make sure they provide excellent and professional, but fun childcare.
  • Meribel Nanny Service
Meribel Nanny Services is another experienced nanny agency in Meribel who our guests have used and raved about.
  • Merinannies
Merinannies is also an experienced nanny agency that have been providing childcare for Meribel parents for years.
Creches
  • ESF
In terms of creches – ESF run 2 clubs for our unders 4s (before they can start ski school in Meribel).
  • ESF Club Piou Piou
Club Piou Piou is for 3 to 5 year olds and based at Chaudanne. They have a safe snow garden there where they take the children out on skis and play games to ensure they all have a lot of fun.
  • ESF Nursery-Saturnins
They also take children from 18 months into a crèche.
