Eat well

The first rule of hospitality is that nothing upsets a guest more than over-promising and under-delivering. This is key when it comes to cooking in a chalet. However, as all good catered chalet companies know, the quickest way to your heart is through your stomach!

Tasty and homely

The feedback we have received since we started serving guests in 2010, has helped to define our philosophy on food. The food you will be served will not be fine-dining fare but, it will be homely, plentiful, well-executed and very, very tasty. And the ongoing feedback we now receive suggests that we are hitting the spot! We recognise that if you’re going to be doing a lot of exercise on the ski hill each day, you’re going to want food to match.

Inspired variety

That said, this is your well-deserved holiday and a big bowl of pasta pesto isn’t going to cut it (no disrespect to pasta pesto, let us know if you specifically want pasta pesto!) so, in our chalet food, we aim to include lots of variety and draw our inspiration from far and wide. We work with a set menu thoughtfully designed to reflect seasonal produce and chalet-style comfort, but our chefs love to add their own personal twists. If you have any dietary needs or preferences, just let us know—we’re happy to tailor your meals.

Sample menus

Gastronomic treats

We’re often asked if we can share a sample menu from our chalets. Now, most companies and catered chalets in Méribel will claim they serve the best food – and we’re happy to jump on that bandwagon. While we start with a set weekly menu, our chefs adapt and personalise it based on each group’s preferences—so every week still feels unique and made just for you. This extends from breakfast and afternoon tea, through to a four-course dinner, with canapés.

Mountain ingredients

The sample menu below will give you an idea of what a week with The Chalet Company would taste like! Our hosts will also happily accommodate allergies, intolerances, religious, health or ethical dietary choices, children’s menus – or even just your favourite dinner for a special occasion!

In general, our menus for the chalet tend to focus on fresh ingredients, available in the mountains, and nutritious recipes to keep you skiing your best (whilst being warm, filling and delicious enough to help you recover from a long day on the slopes).

Time to ski

Coming home to an amazing afternoon tea, and looking forward to a four-course dinner, means lunch on the mountains can be quick and simple: giving you more ski time. That said, we won’t blame you for indulging in a couple of long, mountain lunches – especially on a snow-day.

The following sample menus should give you an idea of a week’s catering in one of our Méribel chalets. We’ve included our sample vegan menu too (labelled ‘vg’), and you’ll see plenty of vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free options.

Le Booze

Le booze

Everybody has a different approach to drinking on a ski holiday; hence The Chalet Company’s alcohol policy has been difficult to define. Restricting each person to half a bottle of wine per night seems frugal, there's no need to ration or pour your own—our hosts keep wine and beer flowing throughout your stay, so your glass is never empty for long.

Alongside welcome drinks on your first night, our house wines and beers are available throughout the day—so whether you're toasting breakfast or winding down after skiing, your glass can always be topped up.

Some of our chalet wines are listed below. These differ each season as they are lovingly hand-selected (and rigorously taste-tested by our team… strictly for quality control, of course). We’re also stocking up our cellar with some special wines that can be bought in addition to your chalet wine.

  • Bubbles

    Baron de Clary

Light bubbles with fresh aromas of apple and citrus, finishing crisp and refreshing. This sparkling wine is versatile and fun and can be enjoyed with appetizers or as an aperitif.

  • White

    Vache d’Automne Blanc

This wine is a light and well balanced white with aromas of lime, apricot and peach. Coming from the heart of the Languedoc region, it has lots of herbal and tropical aromas coming from the Sauvignon Blanc in the blend.

    La Foule Chardonnay

This well-rounded Chardonnay is deep and bright gold in colour. This wine is expressive and complex with hints of pear and vanilla. A well balanced Chardonnay, pairs well with chicken or fish.

  • Red

    Grain de Gamay

Garnet in colour, this vibrant red bursts with aromas of juicy red berries—think ripe strawberry, raspberry, and a hint of cherry. On the palate, it's fresh, with bright acidity and soft tannins that make it exceptionally easy to drink. A playful, elegant wine with a smooth finish and a touch of spice.

    Combeval Grande Reserve Rouge

This deep ruby red doesn’t hold back—bursting with juicy blackberries and ripe blueberries. Smooth and velvety on the palate, it brings a gentle kick of spice and a long, warming finish. Bold, generous, and just a little bit wild—perfect for cosy dinners and big flavours.

Efficient booking process. Staff were professional friendly and cooked up wonderful suppers for kids and adults. Hot tub was a real plus as were hill transfers. Everything we needed for a relaxing break. Dom, family and friends.

Very impressed by Chalet Impala... what a place! There are just so many stunning features – the hot tub, sauna, terrace, huge open-plan lounge and most of the bedrooms (apart from one small one but it was for a single lady). Food was lovely, Aimee & Charlie were charming hosts and, well, we can’t wait to come back next season! Emma.

I love dealing with Phil and the team at the Chalet Company, I organise a large ski group trip every year and they are by far the best company I deal with. Chalet Evergreen is great, fabulous location, hot tub always excellent hosts which you need when looking after big group. They organise as much or as little as you want them to and just make organising the annual ski trip a pleasure rather than a chore. Jenna Kelly.

Family-Friendly Chalets

As much as many of you would love to palm the kids off to the grandparents in order to jet off to the Alps for a week of care-free skiing and apres-ski hedonism, we all know that this is, alas, not always an option. Not every year anyway! Fortunately, The Chalet Company is a child-friendly company… in fact, we love hosting kids! And so we do everything we can to make sure families stay happy and that the process is as smooth as possible for everyone.

Breakfast for Champions

First things first, we like to make sure the little’uns are well-fed. For the babies, we are happy to purée food and provide you with highchairs. At breakfast, the bigger boys and girls are welcome to a plate of scrambled eggs, or a bacon and egg muffin, or whatever the hot option is that the ‘bigger kids’ are having. But, more often than not, we find they prefer tucking into cereal, bowls of porridge, yoghurts, croissants, or pain au chocolats. We shall also provide plenty of fresh fruit so that you can look good in front of any other parents staying in the chalet with young children!

Well Fed

On your return to the chalet after a day on the slopes, there will be fresh baguettes and spreads alongside a home-made cake and drinks aplenty. For dinner, we offer an early sitting for the children and they will be fed a two-course, freshly-cooked, kids’ menu, chosen in advance by you. Please see below for the numerous options, but please be aware we can only cook one main and ‘pud’ option per evening for all children.

Menu Options

Please choose six mains and six desserts from the list below to create your own personalised children’s menu for your group.

Fresh fruit and yoghurts are always available. Freshly prepared, home cooked food for children. Our cooks will be happy to purée food for babies and are happy to accomodate dietary requirements for children. The more we know about what your little ones like and dislike, the better we can cater to their needs, so that meal times are a fun and happy place. Please not that only one main and dessert option will be served per evening.

Mains

  • Cheese & Tomato Pizza
  • Spag Bol with Garlic Bread
  • Chicken Goujons
  • Fish Fingers
  • Macaroni Cheese
  • Sausage & Mash
  • Mild Chicken Curry with Rice
  • Spaghetti Carbonara
  • Tomato & Mozzarella Pasta Bake
  • Pesto Pasta
  • Burgers
  • Bake Potatoes with a Variety of Toppings

Puddings

  • Fruit Crumble
  • Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream
  • Pancakes & Toppings
  • Sticky Toffee Pudding
  • Chocolate Rice Crispy Cakes
  • Ice Cream, Sauce & Sprinkles
  • Chocolate Fondue with Fruit & Marshmallows
  • Cheesecake
  • Bananas & Custard
  • Fruit Salad with Yogurt
  • Vienetta
  • Ice lolly Or Ice Cream on a Stick
Le Booze

Le Petit Booze

As much as the kids love them, many parents/guardians think sugary drinks are the Devil’s tipple.

Wherever you stand on this, we will discreetly provide them but not shout about them so that it is entirely at the parent’s discretion whether they are offered (and therefore consumed, or not).

  • Water

Created by God (or evolution) many years ago, water is very light on the nose and wonderfully smooth. Combines particularly well with crisps.

  • Orangina

Orangina is a lightly carbonated beverage made from water and 12% citrus pulp (10% from concentrated orange, 2% from a combination of concentrated lemon, concentrated mandarin, and concentrated grapefruit juices). It is generally regarded as ‘lush’ and ‘well nice’.

  • Sirop de Pêche

In this instance, pêche translates as ‘peach’ and not ‘fish’ as fish syrup has tended not to go down very well with the under 10s. It’s the French version of squash – basically it’s liquid sugar with some peach flavouring thrown in. Drink in moderation!

  • Jus de Pommes

Again, not to be confused with the less-popular Jus de Pommes de Terres (potato juice), apple juice is a delicious breakfast drink full of fruity goodness!

Other Services for Children

At The Chalet Company, we know that the easiest way to keep the sprogs happy is by making sure they are well fed and watered but we have other policies and services in place to try to make sure that they enjoy all aspects of their stay in our chalets.

Travel cots and highchairs are available. Please note, we do not provide sheets for the travel cots, you'll need to squeeze them in your case!

To keep them entertained:

  • A selection of baby/toddler toys are available in all chalets
  • A selection of games are available in all chalets
  • All chalets are equipped with Amazon firesticks
  • PS4 and games are available in Chalet Impala
  • Games room in Chalet Le Chardon
  • Hot tubs in Chalet Evergreen, Impala Lodge, Chalet Le Chardon, Refuge Boua, and Chalet Bruyere

We are also happy to recommend and book nannies, child-friendly restaurants, and ski schools for your children. We understand that getting kids to the lessons on time in the morning can be somewhat stressful and so, in chalets where we offer a minibus service to the slopes, we will try wherever possible to prioritise children so they get there on time!
